Dear girls, if one day people tell you that IT and technology in general are not for you, do not even think to be offended by this person. In reality it's definitely not like that. We conducted a small survey to find out where the path of the current KNURE students began and what wards would they like to be conveyed to the future generation.
On the fourth Thursday of April, the world celebrates the international day of girls in IT. And although the sphere of information technology is considered one of the most progressive, a veil of gender stereotypes still hangs around it. Despite this, our university hosts hundreds of students every year, who by their own example proves that girls in the field of technology have the right place.

- WHAT SPECIALTY ARE YOU STUDYING ON?
- I'm studying on "Software Engineering". Previously I studied at It Academy from SoftServe with a degree as a DevOps Engineer.
- WHO DID YOU WANT TO BECOME WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?
- As a child, I tried to look into a lot of professions, but in high school, I decided that I wanted to work with computers.
- WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY AND IT IN GENERAL?
- IT is the scope of the future, there are many prospects and development opportunities. I am very glad that KNURE provides an opportunity to develop!
- WHAT CAN YOU ADVICE TO OTHER GIRLS WHO WANT TO STUDY AT TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY AND GET IN IT?
- I advise you to work very hard, and it's not just about IT. Find what you like and do your very best. It is not so important who is sitting on the other side of the monitor: a guy or a girl, the result of the work is important.

- WHAT SPECIALTY ARE YOU STUDYING ON?
- I’m studying at the Department of Informatics and at the same time, I’m working as a QA engineer.
- WHO DID YOU WANT TO BECOME WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?
- As a child, I wanted to connect my life with medicine, but in 10-11 years, everything changed dramatically, and I wanted to connect my life with computing.
- WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY AND IT IN GENERAL?
- I chose a technical university and specifically the IT-sphere for several reasons: first I followed the example of my older brother, who enrolled in computer science at KHNURE and later became a business analyst. Then at school, I began to do well with mathematics and physics, and I decided that it was meant to be. And now I can’t imagine my life without IT!
- WHAT CAN YOU ADVICE TO OTHER GIRLS WHO WANT TO STUDY AT TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY AND GET IN IT?
- I would advise you not to be afraid of myths that girls in IT are not in demand or that girls cannot be cool techies. Indeed, in history, there are a lot of examples to the contrary! Not so many girls study with me, but at work, a huge number of girls surround me: from testers and programmers to managing departments. And they are all very cool specialists. The main thing is to like what you do. And KHNURE is a great start for ambitious IT guys. Both boys and girls.

- I am in my third year at the Faculty of ITM at the Department of Informatics. I work as a React-developer.
- WHAT CAN YOU ADVICE TO OTHER GIRLS WHO WANT TO STUDY AT TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY AND GET IN IT?
- Do not be afraid! Although it seems very complicated, you will succeed. You will gradually, semester after semester, gain more knowledge and immerse yourself more in this area.
Study well. Not for grades or scholarships, but for yourself. And rather, not in terms of memorizing the theory, but in understanding the processes. This will help you in the future, at work. Do not give up. If it didn’t work for the first time, then it’ll work for the tenth. Each of you will be able to find something to your liking.
In general, the road will be overpowered by the traveler. Set goals and reach them, and you will surely succeed!

- Even if it’s not clear, even if it seems like you’ll never understand anything, even if MATLAB and VISUAL STUDIO seem to be on the verge of fantasy, continue to delve deeply and it will certainly bear fruit!

- I would advise you not to be afraid, not to doubt yourself, especially if something doesn’t work out and not to think that boys are better in this area, girls can achieve just about anything!
But the general result can be summarized as follows: dear girls, do not be afraid to learn something new, do not be afraid to show yourself and seek new knowledge only because someone doubts you.
The main thing is your self-confidence!
